HK Bus ETA ("the app", "we", "us") aggregates real-time bus arrival data for Hong Kong public transport. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
HK Bus ETA does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. The app does not require an account, does not track you, and does not contain any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.

To show real-time bus arrivals, the app makes requests to public, government-published OpenData APIs operated by Hong Kong public transport companies. These services may log standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, user agent) under their own privacy policies:
HK Bus ETA does not share any user-identifying information with these services. Only the route, stop, or operator identifier needed to fetch arrival data is sent.
When you tap the map icon next to a bus stop, the app opens your device's installed maps application (Apple Maps on iOS, or another map app you have installed) at the stop's coordinates. The opened map application is governed by its own privacy policy — we do not control how it handles your location or queries. No personal data is included in the request; only the stop's latitude, longitude, and name.
The app uses your device's location only to sort the route list by proximity — the routes near you appear first. Granting access is optional; if you decline, the app falls back to listing routes in alphabetic order. Your location is read on-device only and is never transmitted to us, our servers, or any third party. We do not store, log, or share location data.
The app does not access your camera, photos, microphone, or contacts. The app does not request any of these permissions.
HK Bus ETA is suitable for general audiences, including children. Because the app collects no personal information from any user, it complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU GDPR-K.
All data the app stores is kept locally on your device using iOS standard secure storage. Network requests use HTTPS. We do not operate any servers that handle your data.
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
